Multi-touch haptic feedback generation on a surface using piezo-electric actuators

FNS project in collaboration with the ICST at ZHdK

Project description

Haptic musical interfaces have a great potential as tools for musical tuition, for providing guidance in (intrinsically noisy) large ensembles and remote performance, and for granting access to musical practice to persons affected by somatosensory loss and the differently abled.

The Integrated Actuators Laboratory will investigate novel haptic technologies for rendering rich vibro-tactile feedback. The main objective is to develop an interactive surface that is able to render a multi-touch vibro-tactile stimulus using piezoelectric actuators and wave focusing strategies.
